Key Stage 2

Children are offered a broad and balanced education across the primary years at ISM. The curriculum at ISM is based on the English National Curriculum with its two Key Stages:

Key Stage 2 is for children aged 7-11 years.  We aim to nurture responsible, independent and confident citizens who have the desire to discover, learn and aquire the skills necessary to move smoothly into secondary deucation at the end of Year 6.

In Key Stage 2 the following subjects are taught on a regular basis:

Our curriculum, based on the English National Curriculum, maintains continuity, progression and consistency across the different year groups.

High quality teaching and learning at ISM ensures excellent progress.  This is further enhanced by the wonderful environment of the school and the diversity of our international community.  Children learn through each other and the opportunities given to them.

Our creative Curriculum Outline gives the themes and topics within each subject and year group that offers appropriate and stimulating topics over the year. Guidance from the Primary Framework in Numeracy and Literacy are also followed from Foundation 2 through to Year Six.

We place a strong emphasis on developing the whole child so that children who leave ISM to go to secondary school have all the prerequesite skills needed to study independently as well as being self-confident in their relationships and own abilities.

Children should enjoy coming to school and at ISM this sentiment is clear through their actions every day.
