Early Years or Foundation Stage includes children who are 3 or 4 years old on 1st September.
The Foundation Stage at ISM is a distinct phase of education for children aged 3-5 that underpins their future learning whilst having its own defined aims. It is organised into two age groups with children aged 3 and becoming 4 in that academic year in Foundation 1 and children aged 4 and becoming 5 in that academic year in Foundation 2. Children in Foundation 1 may attend for mornings only. The staff in the Foundation Stage work together to ensure progression and continuity in the curriculum and experiences offered and many activities are combined. The Foundation Stage is located in its own building.
How Foundation Stage Works
Foundation Stage offers planned activities and experiences that help children make progress in their development and learning. Children will have had a wide range of different experiences and will have a wide range of skills and interests when they join the school. We provide a well-planned and resourced curriculum to take their learning forward and to provide opportunities for all children to succeed in an atmosphere of care and value.
